Enhancement of endogenous neuroprotective mechanisms –therapeutic strategies in brain damage

Investigator

Title of the project Enhancement of endogenous neuroprotective mechanisms –therapeutic strategies in brain damage
Primary and secondary scientific disciplines Biology, medical science
Description of the project Characteristics and main objectives of the research project:

  • General topic of my doctoral project is focused on an issue of evaluating methods of the encouragement of endogenous mechanisms to compensate for neural damage;
  • Our main goal is to investigate possible ways to both make known neuroprotective mechanisms more efficient and also seek new methods for preventing neurodegenerative harm.
  • To obtain as complex results as possible the methodology of the research will include usage of molecular and biochemical laboratory methods and techniques, modern microscopy, as well as cell culture techniques and behavioral tests with animals;
  • Final outcome of this project could possibly bring a new insight into therapy of brain damage caused by neurodegenerative diseases or traumas.

The project is conducted in cooperation with: University of New Mexico, USA

Principal supervisor: prof. dr hab. Justyna Rogalska
