Karima Afandi, a 2nd-year PhD student, received the Best Poster Award at the 74th International Congress and Annual Meeting of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA-REIMS 2026), held by the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research in Reims, France, from 30 August to 2 September 2026.

Karima Afandi, a 2nd-year PhD student, received the Best Poster Award at the 74th International Congress and Annual Meeting of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA-REIMS 2026), held by the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research in Reims, France, from 30 August to 2 September 2026. The conference is one of the largest and most prestigious international scientific meetings dedicated to medicinal plants and natural products research, bringing together more than 800 participants from 80 countries around the world.

Poster title: Evaluation of Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Activities of Alginate-Based Films Containing Epilobium Parviflorum, Tanacetum Vulgare, and Filipendula Ulmaria Water Extracts, Afandi K, Kowalonek J, Richert A, Hejda N.

The Best Poster Award was awarded to 8 posters out of 681 posters submitted, making the achievement a significant recognition of the work. Other winners are from France, Switzerland, Nigeria, Argentina, Austria, Japan and India. The awarded work forms part of Afandi’s doctoral research on the development of innovative cosmetic preparations supporting the treatment of acne rosacea, focusing on the potential of medicinal plants and biopolymer-based formulations.
