Congratulations!
We are pleased to announce that Mr. Aji Suhartoyo, a doctoral student of Academia Copernicana Interdisciplinary Doctoral from the Department of Biomedical and Polymer Chemistry, has published a review article entitled “Unlocking natural cross-link agents for biopolymer wound dressings: A review”. The article has been published in the high-ranked journal Industrial Crops & Products (IF 5.6, Punktacja ministerstwa 200, top 10% Scopus). The present work is an important contribution to the design of advanced biomaterials.
Together with his supervisor, Prof. Marta Ziegler-Borowska, and Dr. Dorota Chelminiak-Dudkiewicz, he published the review that is focused on the importance of natural cross-linking agents to enhance the mechanical and clinical properties of biopolymer wound dressings. The review study has uniquely bridged the gap between the scientific literature and the existing ethnobotanical platform and has surfaced the newer, biocompatible agents which may foster the activity for wound healing.
This publication is a cornerstone of Mr. Aji doctoral work, supported by the National Science Centre, Poland grant UMO-2022/47/D/NZ7/01821. The authors are members of the Centre of Excellence "Towards Personalised Medicine" operating under the Excellence Initiative - Research University
Following his string of success, Mr. Aji was presented with the Best Poster Award at the 20th Hellenic Symposium on Medicinal Chemistry (HSMC-20), which took place in Ioannina, Greece, on April 3-5, 2025. His award-winning poster was titled "Development of Bioactive Chitosan Sponges: Role of CBD and Violacein on Porosity and Antimicrobial Activity," on a new direction of his work.
